GCSE Results

GCSE results for Lutterworth College have been well received.  The provisional “headline figures”:

Students achieving 5A*-C grades including English and Maths:       63.4%

Compared with recent years, these results are very pleasing, and show the value we add to students’ education here at Lutterworth.

However, behind these results are many stories of students who have achieved exceedingly well and who have performed far better than their “national expectations”.  We continue to add value to students’ results thanks to the hard work of students, good quality teaching and mentoring by staff and the co-operation of parents.

Congratulations go to all the students for their hard work and study, to teachers for their dedication and guidance as well as to all parents for their support.  These figures represent our best ever overall set of GCSE results.

There are many impressive individual performances, and the overall standard of students gaining 5A*-C grades is very good.  Again, we had a strong result of students achieving 5A*-C grades including English and Maths at around 64%.

Particularly pleasing is the percentage of students gaining A*-C grades in English, Maths and Science (70% or more).  Almost all students gained 5A*-G, whilst hardly any student left without a GCSE qualification, with 100% of students achieving at least one grade.

Most importantly of all, the vast majority of students gained the grades they needed to follow the further education course of their choice.

These results rank very highly with previous years and our target is to soon break 70% of students achieving the top grades including English and Maths.

We must also thank the hard work of all our family of schools (primary and High Schools) who contribute so much to pleasing results like these."

Excellent A level results

Congratulations are due to students and staff on an excellent set of results.  They are a product of a great deal of hard work and all should be proud of their achievements.  So the preparation, teaching, mentoring and other activities staff do here with students really does pay off.  Also, we’re really fortunate to have so many hard working students with excellent attitudes to study and learning.

We must remember too the work of our local High Schools and primary schools in providing an excellent start to our students’ education.

For our A level Results, our pass rate was around 97% and in total students achieved 37 of the new top A* grades.

We are an inclusive College so have an open entry policy, and we do not restrict entry to any student who wishes to take examinations – whether this is 1 or 2 A levels only.  We are really pleased that our trends show we are maintaining our very high standards at A level.

Most pleasing of course is seeing so many students gain the access to the higher education courses they have applied for.

There were many outstanding performances with three students securing places at Oxford or Cambridge, namely Nicholas Barstow, Jake Gilhespie and Robert Moore.  Other top performers include:

Donald Bowden

Elizabeth Sowerby

Henry Parkes

Rebecca Ward

David Watson

Rebecca Hadley

Ben Stone

Our post-16 students take a variety of exams and I am happy to report that our vocational courses led to many excellent results including BTEC Performing Arts students who all achieved top grades.
